Acura TLX Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things to know before you call, regardless of your TLX's year or trim.

How much does it cost?
$260–$480 for TLX models without AcuraWatch. $660–$1,350 for models with AcuraWatch, including mandatory calibration.
Does my TLX need ADAS calibration?
Most likely yes. AcuraWatch has been standard on most TLX trims since the 2015 launch, and on ALL trims from 2021 onward. Check for a camera behind the rearview mirror.
Does the Type S need a different windshield?
No. The TLX Type S (2021+) uses the same windshield as other 2nd gen TLX trims. Type S is a performance variant — same glass, same camera, same calibration.
What calibration type is needed?
Static calibration — performed with the vehicle stationary using manufacturer-spec targets at precise distances. We perform all TLX calibrations in-house. 1–2 hours for the calibration step.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and calibration. We handle the full claim. Most AcuraWatch-equipped TLX owners with comprehensive coverage pay nothing out of pocket.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. No driving a cracked windshield across town.
How long does it take?
60–90 min glass-only. 2.5–4 hours with ADAS calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 min with fast-cure urethane adhesive.
Does the TLX have a HUD?
The 2nd gen TLX Advance package offers an available head-up display. HUD-equipped windshields require a specific glass with a reflective coating layer — we confirm by VIN.

Our Honest Take on TLX Calibration

Acura's documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on an AcuraWatch-equipped TLX. That's the official position and we always inform customers of it.

In practice, most non-calibrated replacements result in a normally functioning system. The camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. We've seen this consistently across hundreds of Honda/Acura jobs.

Our recommendation: If you're using insurance, calibrate — cost is covered and there's no reason not to. If you're paying out of pocket, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice if the system was working perfectly before. If warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.

When we calibrate, we always provide a printed completion report. If any warning lights return after our service, we redo the calibration at no charge.

Repair or Replace?

Acura TLX Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

Full replacement is almost always the better call. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we lean toward replacement.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for AcuraWatch-equipped TLX models

From $260 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But...

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail or crack can return
  • Not recommended on any AcuraWatch-equipped TLX

$95–$150 · We'll always tell you if replacement makes more sense

On AcuraWatch TLX Models, Repair Near the Camera Zone Is Especially Risky

On a TLX with AcuraWatch, injected resin changes the optical properties of the glass in the chip area. If the chip is anywhere within 8 inches of the camera mount (top center), resin fill can cause calibration failure or intermittent ADAS warnings — even if the chip appears "filled."

The math favors replacement: A chip repair runs $95–$150 with no warranty. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs you nothing. We'll give you an honest assessment and never push you toward the more expensive option unless it's genuinely the right call.

FAQ

Acura TLX Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Acura TLX owners across all years and trims.

How much does an Acura TLX windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
TLX models without AcuraWatch: $260–$480 all-in. Any TLX with AcuraWatch runs $660–$1,350 including mandatory calibration. Call (626) 689-7975 with your year and trim for an exact price in under a minute.
Does my Acura TLX need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Yes, if your TLX has AcuraWatch. Most 1st gen TLX models (2015–2020) have it standard on most trims. Every 2nd gen TLX (2021–2025) has AcuraWatch standard, including the Type S. Look for a camera bracket behind the rearview mirror — if it's there, calibration is required.
Does the TLX Type S need a different windshield than the standard TLX?
No. The TLX Type S is a performance variant — same body, same windshield as other 2nd gen TLX trims. The Type S has a different engine and suspension, but the glass and AcuraWatch camera system are identical.
What type of calibration does the Acura TLX require?
The TLX requires static calibration — performed with the vehicle stationary using manufacturer-spec targets positioned at precise distances in front of the vehicle. We perform all calibrations in-house and provide a printed completion report. The calibration step takes 1–2 hours.
Will insurance cover my Acura TLX windshield replacement?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For an AcuraWatch-equipped TLX where the total reaches $660–$1,350, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing. We handle the entire claim process with all major carriers.
Does the TLX use the same windshield as the Honda Accord?
No — the TLX has its own windshield. However, the TLX uses the same camera bracket system as the Honda Accord — similar torque specs and calibration procedure. This means our Honda/Acura expertise translates directly to TLX calibration work.
Can I drive with a cracked TLX windshield in California?
A crack in the driver's primary line of sight is illegal and unsafe in California. Temperature fluctuations in LA cause cracks to spread rapidly. On an AcuraWatch-equipped TLX, a spreading crack that reaches the camera zone can cause system warnings. Call us for a same-day mobile assessment anywhere in Los Angeles.
