Ford Escape Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things to know before you call, regardless of your Escape's year or trim.

How much does it cost?
$220–$420 for 3rd gen Escapes (2013–2019) without ADAS. $580–$1,200 for 2020–2025 models with Ford Co-Pilot360™, including mandatory calibration.
Does my Escape need ADAS calibration?
Yes, if your Escape is a 2020 or newer. Ford Co-Pilot360™ became standard on ALL Escape trims from the 4th gen (2020) launch. Pre-2020 Escapes have no forward camera and need no calibration.
Does the Escape Hybrid or PHEV need different glass?
No — gas, hybrid, and PHEV all use the exact same windshield. The part number is identical regardless of powertrain. We confirm by VIN every time.
Does my Escape have Head-Up Display?
HUD is available on the Titanium trim of the 4th gen (2020–2025). HUD-equipped windshields use a special reflective layer and cost more to replace. We confirm HUD equipment by VIN.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and calibration. We handle the full claim. Most 2020+ Escape owners with comprehensive coverage pay nothing out of pocket.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. No driving a cracked windshield across town.
How long does it take?
60–90 min glass-only. 2.5–4 hours with ADAS calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 min with fast-cure urethane adhesive.
Does the Escape have acoustic glass?
Acoustic glass is available on the Titanium trim of the 4th gen (2020–2025). Replacement glass must match the acoustic spec. We confirm by VIN and trim.

Ford Escape Windshield by Generation — What Your Year Needs

Your year determines your glass type, whether calibration is required, and your total cost. Select your generation below.

2013–2019 · 3rd Gen
2020–2025 · 4th Gen
ℹ️
3rd Gen (2013–2019): No Co-Pilot360™, no forward camera. Compact SUV with standard laminated windshield. Simple glass-only replacement — no calibration needed on any 3rd gen Escape. Quality aftermarket glass works perfectly.
FeatureDetails
Ford Co-Pilot360™ / ADASNot Available — No calibration needed on any 3rd gen Escape
Glass TypeStandard laminated windshield
Acoustic GlassNot standard on this generation
Rain-Sensing WipersAvailable on Titanium trim — sensor strip on glass interior
Forward CameraNot available on 3rd gen Escape
Head-Up DisplayNot Available
Typical Cost$220 – $420 total (glass + labor + moldings)
Installation Time60–90 minutes · Drive-away in 60 min
Our Glass RecommendationQuality aftermarket (Pilkington or Fuyao) — OEM not required
⚠️
4th Gen (2020–2025): Complete redesign. Ford Co-Pilot360™ is standard on ALL trims from launch — S, SE, SEL, Titanium. Escape Hybrid and Escape PHEV use the same windshield as the gas model. Head-Up Display available on Titanium trim. Acoustic glass on Titanium. Calibration is required after every windshield replacement on any 4th gen Escape.
FeatureDetails
Ford Co-Pilot360™ / ADASStandard on ALL trims — every 2020–2025 Escape requires calibration
Calibration TypeStatic — vehicle stationary, manufacturer-spec targets at precise distances. 1–2 hours
Safety Features AffectedPre-Collision Assist, Lane-Keeping System, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System, Auto High-Beam Headlamps
Acoustic GlassAvailable on Titanium trim — replacement must match acoustic spec
Head-Up DisplayTitanium trim only — HUD windshield has special reflective layer, higher cost
Rain-Sensing WipersStandard on SEL and above — sensor patch visible on inside glass surface
Escape Hybrid / PHEVSame windshield as gas model — drivetrain does not change glass part number
Cost — With ADAS Calibration$580 – $1,200 total · Insurance often covers this fully
Installation Time60–90 min glass only · 2.5–4 hours with calibration
⚠️
No legitimate "hybrid surcharge" on Escape glass: The 4th gen Escape (2020+) is available as gas, hybrid, and PHEV — all three use the exact same windshield. The windshield part number is identical regardless of powertrain. Some shops charge a "hybrid surcharge" for glass on the Escape — this is not legitimate. If a shop quotes you extra because your Escape is a Hybrid or PHEV, they are either misinformed or padding the bill. We charge the same price for gas, hybrid, and PHEV Escapes because the glass is the same.
🔍
Quick check: Look for a small black camera bracket near the top center of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror. If it's there, you have Ford Co-Pilot360™ and calibration is required. All 2020+ Escapes have it. Share your VIN when you call and we'll confirm the exact part, HUD status, and price immediately.

Our Honest Take on Escape Calibration

Ford's documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Co-Pilot360™-equipped Escape. That's the official position and we always inform customers of it.

In practice, most non-calibrated replacements result in a normally functioning system. The camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. We've seen this consistently across hundreds of Ford jobs.

Our recommendation: If you're using insurance, calibrate — cost is covered and there's no reason not to. If you're paying out of pocket, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice if Co-Pilot360™ was working perfectly before. If warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.

When we calibrate, we always provide a printed completion report. If any warning lights return after our service, we redo the calibration at no charge.

Repair or Replace?

Ford Escape Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

Full replacement is almost always the better call. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we lean toward replacement.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for 2020+ ADAS Escapes

From $220 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But...

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail or crack can return
  • Not recommended on any 2020+ ADAS Escape

$95–$150 · We'll always tell you if replacement makes more sense

On 2020+ Escapes, Repair Near the Camera Zone Is Especially Risky

On a 4th gen Escape with Ford Co-Pilot360™, injected resin changes the optical properties of the glass in the chip area. If the chip is anywhere within 8 inches of the camera mount (top center), resin fill can cause calibration failure or intermittent ADAS warnings — even if the chip appears "filled."

The math favors replacement: A chip repair runs $95–$150 with no warranty. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs you nothing. We'll give you an honest assessment and never push you toward the more expensive option unless it's genuinely the right call.

FAQ

Ford Escape Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Ford Escape owners across all years and trims.

How much does a Ford Escape windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
3rd gen Escapes (2013–2019) without ADAS: $220–$420 all-in. Any 2020 or newer Escape with Ford Co-Pilot360™ runs $580–$1,200 including mandatory calibration. Call (626) 689-7975 with your year and trim for an exact price in under a minute.
Does my Ford Escape need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Yes, if your Escape is 2020 or newer. Ford Co-Pilot360™ has been standard on every Escape trim since the 4th gen (2020) launch. Pre-2020 Escapes have no forward camera and need no calibration. If you're unsure, look for a small camera bracket behind the rearview mirror — if it's there, calibration is required.
Does the Escape Hybrid or PHEV require different glass than the standard Escape?
No. The Escape gas, Hybrid, and PHEV all use the exact same windshield. The part number is identical regardless of powertrain. Some shops charge a "hybrid surcharge" for Escape glass — this is not legitimate. The glass is the same across all drivetrains. We confirm everything by VIN.
Does my Ford Escape have Head-Up Display?
Head-Up Display is available on the Titanium trim of the 4th gen Escape (2020–2025). HUD-equipped windshields use a special reflective layer and cost more to replace. We always confirm HUD equipment by VIN before ordering glass. If your Escape has HUD, we stock the correct windshield.
Will insurance cover my Ford Escape windshield replacement?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For a 2020+ Escape where the total reaches $580–$1,200, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing. We handle the entire claim process with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, and all major carriers.
What is Ford Co-Pilot360™?
Ford Co-Pilot360™ is Ford's suite of driver-assist safety features, including Pre-Collision Assist, Lane-Keeping System, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, and Blind Spot Information System. On the Escape, it's been standard on all trims since 2020. The forward-facing camera is mounted to the windshield, which is why calibration is required after replacement.
Can I drive with a cracked Escape windshield in California?
A crack in the driver's primary line of sight is illegal and unsafe in California. Temperature fluctuations in LA — especially in summer — cause cracks to spread rapidly. On a 2020+ ADAS Escape, a spreading crack that reaches the camera zone can also cause Co-Pilot360™ system warnings. Call us for a same-day mobile assessment anywhere in Los Angeles.
