Ford F-150 Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things to know before you call, regardless of your F-150's year, trim, or cab configuration.

How much does it cost?
$260–$500 for non-ADAS F-150s (2009–2019 and 2020 XL). $680–$1,450 for models with Ford Co-Pilot360™, including mandatory static calibration. Price also varies by cab style — Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew each use different glass. Call (626) 689-7975 with your VIN for an exact price.
Does my F-150 need ADAS calibration?
12th gen (2009–2014): never. 13th gen (2015–2019): never. 13th gen 2020 XLT and above: yes — Co-Pilot360™ was first available that year. All 14th gen (2021–2025): yes, every trim. Lightning, Raptor, Tremor, PowerBoost — all require calibration.
Why does cab style matter?
The F-150 comes in three cab configurations — Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew — and each has a physically different windshield. Ordering by "F-150" alone without confirming cab style gets the wrong glass. We always verify by VIN.
Does the Lightning use different glass?
No. The F-150 Lightning (EV) shares the same windshield as the gas and hybrid 14th gen F-150. The cab structure and windshield opening are identical. Co-Pilot360™ is standard on Lightning — calibration is always required.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and calibration. We handle the full claim. Most 2021+ F-150 owners with comprehensive coverage pay nothing out of pocket. We bill GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, and USAA directly.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. We come to your home, workplace, or anywhere that's convenient. No driving a cracked windshield across town.
How long does it take?
90–120 min glass-only (the F-150 has the largest windshield in Ford's truck lineup). 3–4.5 hours with Co-Pilot360™ calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 min with fast-cure urethane.
Does the Raptor or Tremor use different glass?
No — the Raptor and Tremor use the same windshield as other 14th gen F-150 trims. The off-road suspension, body cladding, and wider fenders do not change the windshield dimensions. Co-Pilot360™ calibration is required on both.

Ford F-150 Windshield by Generation — What Your Year Needs

Your year, trim, and cab configuration determine your glass type, whether calibration is required, and your total cost. Select your generation below.

🚨
F-150–Specific Warning — Cab Configuration & Generation Mismatch: The F-150 is available in 3 cab configurations (Regular Cab, SuperCab, SuperCrew), and each has a physically different windshield. Additionally, the 13th gen (2015–2020) and 14th gen (2021+) have different glass despite looking similar externally — the aluminum body redesign in 2021 changed the windshield dimensions slightly. Shops that order by "F-150" without confirming cab style AND generation get the wrong glass frequently. We always verify both by VIN before ordering.

2021–2025 · 14th Gen
ℹ️
12th Gen (2009–2014): No ADAS, no forward camera on the windshield. Aluminum body not yet introduced — this generation uses a traditional steel body. Standard laminated windshield. The most straightforward F-150 replacement — glass only, no calibration required on any trim. Three cab configurations (Regular Cab, SuperCab, SuperCrew) each use a different windshield.
FeatureDetails
Co-Pilot360™ / ADASNot Available — No calibration needed on any 12th gen F-150
Body ConstructionTraditional steel body — aluminum body not introduced until 13th gen (2015)
Cab ConfigurationsRegular Cab, SuperCab, SuperCrew — each uses a different windshield. Must confirm cab style before ordering

Our Glass RecommendationQuality aftermarket (Pilkington or Fuyao Ohio) — OEM not required
⚠️
13th Gen (2015–2020) — Revolutionary Aluminum Body: Ford introduced its all-aluminum body on the F-150 in 2015 — a landmark shift that changed the windshield dimensions. No Co-Pilot360™ from 2015–2019 on any trim. The 2020 model year introduced Co-Pilot360™ on XLT and above trims only; the 2020 XL has no ADAS. Three cab styles — each uses different glass. Important: 13th gen glass is NOT interchangeable with 14th gen despite similar appearance.

Cost — With Co-Pilot360™ Calibration (2020 XLT+)$680 – $1,250 total · Insurance often covers this fully
Installation Time90–120 min glass only · 3–4.5 hours with calibration
🔍
Quick check for 2020 F-150 owners: Look for a small camera bracket at the top center of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror. If it's there, you have Co-Pilot360™ and calibration is required. If there's no camera housing, you likely have a 2020 XL — glass-only replacement. Your VIN confirms this instantly.
⚠️
14th Gen (2021–2025) — Co-Pilot360™ Standard on ALL Trims: Complete redesign. Co-Pilot360™ is standard on every single trim — XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Raptor, Tremor. The F-150 Lightning (EV) uses the same windshield as gas and hybrid models. This generation has the largest windshield in Ford's truck lineup. PowerBoost hybrid uses the same glass. HUD available on Platinum and Limited. The 2021 aluminum body redesign changed windshield dimensions slightly from 13th gen — the glass is NOT interchangeable.
FeatureDetails
Co-Pilot360™ / ADASStandard on ALL trims — every 2021–2025 F-150 requires calibration regardless of trim
Calibration TypeStatic only — 1.5–2.5 hours with manufacturer-spec targets

Raptor & TremorSame windshield spec as other trims — off-road package does not change glass part number
PowerBoost HybridSame windshield as gas F-150 — hybrid drivetrain does not affect glass
HUD (Platinum/Limited)Available — requires HUD-spec windshield. Do NOT install standard glass on a HUD-equipped F-150. We confirm by VIN
Cab ConfigurationsRegular Cab, SuperCab, SuperCrew — each uses a different windshield. Must confirm cab style by VIN
Cost — With Co-Pilot360™ Calibration$680 – $1,450 total · Most insurance policies cover this entirely
Installation Time90–120 min glass only · 3–4.5 hours with calibration · Largest windshield takes more time
🔑
VIN is the fastest path to a correct quote on any F-150: The F-150's three cab configurations, ADAS rollout across model years, and HUD option on upper trims make VIN lookup essential. A 2019 F-150 XLT needs no calibration; a 2020 F-150 XLT does. A Platinum may need HUD glass. Your VIN tells us the cab style, generation, ADAS package, and exact glass part number in seconds. Ford F-150 Windshield Glass — OEM, OEE & Aftermarket

The F-150's large windshield format, three cab configurations, and HUD option on Platinum/Limited make glass selection more critical than on most Ford vehicles. Glass quality directly affects ADAS calibration reliability on all Co-Pilot360™ models.

Ford F-150 Co-Pilot360™ & ADAS Calibration in Los Angeles

Our Honest Take on F-150 Calibration

Ford's documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Co-Pilot360™-equipped F-150. That's the official position and we always inform customers of it clearly.

In practice, many non-calibrated replacements result in a system that continues to function. The camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. That said, the F-150's large, raked windshield means the camera sits at a more extreme angle than on smaller Ford vehicles — and small variations in glass thickness or mount alignment have a proportionally larger effect on the camera's field of view. Calibration risk is higher on the F-150 than on smaller models.

Our recommendation for F-150s: If you have comprehensive insurance, always calibrate — cost is covered entirely. If paying out of pocket, we recommend calibration on any 2020 XLT+ or any 14th gen (2021–2025) F-150. If warning lights appear after a non-calibrated job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.

Repair or Replace?

Ford F-150 Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

On an F-150, the answer is almost always replacement — and the large windshield surface area makes it more urgent than on smaller vehicles.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for 2020+ ADAS F-150s
  • Eliminates thermal stress crack propagation risk entirely

From $260 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But Riskier on an F-150

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail, crack can resume in heat
  • Not recommended on any 2021+ ADAS F-150 near the camera zone
  • F-150's large glass surface increases thermal stress on repairs

$95–$150 · We'll always tell you if replacement makes more sense

On the F-150, the Math Tilts Toward Replacement

The F-150 has the largest windshield in Ford's truck lineup. Every square inch of glass under thermal stress is a potential crack propagation path. A chip repair on an F-150 buys you time — but in July or August in Los Angeles, that time can be very short. Resin fill on a chip near the camera zone (top center) on any 2021+ F-150 can also cause calibration failure or intermittent Co-Pilot360™ warnings.

The math favors replacement: A chip repair runs $95–$150 with no warranty and no guarantee on the F-150's large glass surface. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs you nothing. We'll give you an honest assessment — if a repair is genuinely safe, we'll say so. If it's not, we'll tell you why.

FAQ

Ford F-150 Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Ford F-150 owners across all years, trims, and cab configurations.

How much does a Ford F-150 windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
Non-ADAS F-150s (2009–2019 and 2020 XL): $260–$500 all-in. Models with Co-Pilot360™ (2020 XLT+ and all 2021–2025) run $680–$1,450 including mandatory static calibration. Price varies by cab configuration — Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew each use physically different glass. The F-150 has the largest windshield in Ford's truck lineup, which commands higher glass costs than smaller Ford vehicles. Call (626) 689-7975 with your VIN for an exact price in under a minute.
Why does my F-150's cab configuration matter for the windshield?
The Ford F-150 is available in three cab styles — Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew — and each has a physically different windshield with different dimensions. Ordering an F-150 windshield without confirming cab style results in the wrong glass. Additionally, the 13th gen (2015–2020) and 14th gen (2021–2025) have different glass despite looking similar externally — the aluminum body redesign in 2021 changed the windshield dimensions slightly. We always verify cab configuration AND generation by VIN before ordering.
Does my Ford F-150 need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
It depends on your year and trim. 12th gen (2009–2014): no calibration needed. 13th gen (2015–2019): no calibration needed on any trim. 13th gen 2020 XL: no calibration needed. 13th gen 2020 XLT and above: yes — Co-Pilot360™ was first offered that year. All 14th gen (2021–2025) F-150s require calibration regardless of trim — including XL, Raptor, Tremor, Lightning, and PowerBoost hybrid. If you're unsure, look for a camera bracket at the top center of your windshield behind the rearview mirror.
Does the F-150 Lightning use the same windshield as the gas F-150?
Yes. The F-150 Lightning (EV) shares the same windshield as the gas and hybrid 14th gen F-150. The cab structure and windshield opening are identical — the Lightning is built on the same body platform. Co-Pilot360™ is standard on the Lightning, so calibration is always required after windshield replacement. The same cab-style distinction applies — Lightning SuperCrew glass is the same as gas SuperCrew glass.
Does the F-150 Raptor or Tremor use a different windshield?
No. The F-150 Raptor and Tremor trims use the same windshield glass as other 14th gen F-150 trims. The off-road suspension, body cladding, wider fenders, and unique bumpers do not change the windshield dimensions or part number. Co-Pilot360™ calibration is required on both the Raptor and Tremor after windshield replacement.
Does the F-150 Heads-Up Display require special windshield glass?
Yes. HUD is available on the 14th gen Platinum and Limited trims. The replacement glass must include the correct optical projection zone specification. Installing standard glass on a HUD-equipped F-150 results in a distorted, doubled, or unclear HUD image. We always confirm HUD-equipped F-150s by VIN before ordering glass and never assume based on trim alone.
Will my insurance cover the Ford F-150 windshield replacement including calibration?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For a 2020+ F-150 with Co-Pilot360™ where the total reaches $680–$1,450, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing out of pocket. The F-150's larger windshield means higher replacement cost that insurance absorbs entirely. We handle the entire claim process with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, and all major carriers.
How long does a Ford F-150 windshield replacement take?
Glass-only replacement takes 90–120 minutes for the F-150 — it has the largest windshield in Ford's truck lineup, so it takes slightly longer to seat and cure than smaller vehicles. With Co-Pilot360™ static calibration, expect 3–4.5 hours total. Drive-away time with our fast-cure urethane adhesive is 60 minutes minimum. We come to your home or office — no need to wait at a shop.
