For any Pro Safety–equipped Sierra HD where the total reaches $700–$1,500, your comprehensive coverage almost certainly covers the full job — glass and calibration — with little or no out-of-pocket cost. The Sierra HD's large windshield format makes insurance filing even more worthwhile than on lighter-duty trucks. We handle claims directly with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, and USAA.

GM's documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Pro Safety–equipped Sierra HD. That's the official position and we always inform customers of it clearly.
In practice, many non-calibrated replacements result in a system that continues to function. The camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. That said, the Sierra HD's large, raked windshield means the camera sits at a more extreme angle than on smaller GM vehicles — and small variations in glass thickness or mount alignment have a proportionally larger effect on the camera's field of view.
Our recommendation for Sierra HDs: If you have comprehensive insurance, always calibrate — cost is covered entirely. If paying out of pocket, we recommend calibration on any 2020+ SLT, AT4, or Denali Sierra HD. Pro and SLE trims without a camera don't need it. If warning lights appear after a non-calibrated job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.
📋 Using Insurance? Start Your Claim →On a Sierra HD, the answer is almost always replacement — and the large heavy-duty windshield surface area makes it more urgent than on lighter vehicles.

The Sierra HD has one of the largest truck windshields on the road. Every square inch of glass under thermal stress is a potential crack propagation path. A chip repair buys you time — but in Los Angeles summer heat, that time can be very short. Resin fill near the camera zone on any 2020+ SLT/AT4/Denali Sierra HD can also cause calibration failure or intermittent Pro Safety warnings.
The math favors replacement: A chip repair runs $95–$150 with no warranty. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs you nothing. We'll give you an honest assessment — if a repair is genuinely safe, we'll say so. If it's not, we'll tell you why.
Your VIN is critical on the Sierra HD — it's the only way to confirm cab configuration, generation, ADAS equipment, and exact glass part number. It also confirms whether you have a 2500HD or 3500HD.
The 17-character VIN on your dashboard (driver's side, visible through the windshield) or door jamb tells us everything — 2500HD or 3500HD, cab style, generation, Pro Safety equipment, and exact glass part number. One number, one call, done.
