We do both calibrated and non-calibrated replacements. Here's the straight talk on what calibration actually means for your Civic.
| Honda Sensing® Feature | Uses Camera? | Affected by Windshield Replacement? |
|---|---|---|
| Collision Mitigation Braking (CMBS) | Yes | Camera angle may shift |
| Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) | Yes | Camera angle may shift |
| Lane Departure Warning (LDW) | Yes | Camera angle may shift |
| Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) | Yes | Camera angle may shift |
| Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) | Radar + camera | Camera angle may shift |
| Forward Collision Warning (FCW) | Yes | Camera angle may shift |
| Rain-Sensing Wipers | Windshield sensor | Not Affected |
| Heads-Up Display (HUD) | Projection only | Not Affected (glass spec matters) |
We use static calibration exclusively. The vehicle is stationary, and our technician places manufacturer-spec calibration targets at precise measured distances in front of the camera. It's the most controlled, consistent, and verifiable method available. When we hand you a completion report, we know it's right.
Honda's manufacturer documentation recommends calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Sensing-equipped Civic. That's the official position — and we always make customers aware of it.
That said, we do a significant number of non-calibrated replacements. In the vast majority of cases — probably 99% — the system continues to function normally without calibration. The camera is re-mounted to the same bracket in the same position, and the vehicle drives out the same way it drove in. We've seen this consistently across hundreds of jobs.
Our recommendation: If you're using insurance, calibrate it — the cost is covered and there's no reason not to. If you're paying out of pocket and your Sensing was working perfectly before, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice. We'll always tell you both options and let you decide. If any warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.
📋 Using Insurance? Start Your Claim →Full replacement is almost always the better call. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we still lean toward replacement even then.
From $220 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA
$95–$150 · We'll always tell you if replacement makes more sense
Most auto glass shops will repair anything to get you in the door. We focus almost exclusively on full windshield replacement, and here's why that's better for you:
Chip repairs don't come with a warranty. The resin can fail, the crack can continue to spread, and most shops won't stand behind the work if it does. A repair is essentially a temporary fix with no guarantee.
The price gap is smaller than you think. A chip repair runs $95–$150. A full windshield replacement on a non-ADAS Civic starts at $220. For a few dollars more, you get brand-new glass, new moldings, a clean seal, and our workmanship warranty. If your chip is borderline — especially on a 2016+ Civic with Honda Sensing® — replacement gives you one less thing to worry about.
If your Civic has Honda Sensing® and the chip is anywhere near the camera field of view, repair is especially risky. The resin changes optical properties and can cause calibration failures even if the chip technically "fills." We'll always give you an honest assessment — and we'll tell you if repair genuinely makes sense for your situation.
Your VIN tells us everything. Glass type, trim, ADAS equipment, body style — all of it is confirmed in under a minute from the VIN alone.
The 17-character VIN on your dashboard (driver's side, visible through the windshield) or inside your door jamb tells us your exact glass spec, whether you have Honda Sensing®, what body style you have, and which glass we need to order. No guessing, no follow-up calls. One number, one call, done.
