Honda Odyssey Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things Odyssey owners need to know before they call — regardless of year or trim.

How much does it cost?
$260–$500 for 5th gen Odysseys (2011–2017) without ADAS. $620–$1,300 for 6th gen (2018–2025) with Honda Sensing®, including mandatory calibration.
Does my Odyssey need ADAS calibration?
All 2018–2025 Odysseys have Honda Sensing® standard — calibration is required. For 2017, it depends on your trim. We verify by VIN. Pre-2017 Odysseys need no calibration.
What is CabinWatch — does it need calibration?
No. CabinWatch is an interior ceiling camera for monitoring rear-seat passengers. It has nothing to do with the windshield. Only the Honda Sensing® forward camera behind the rearview mirror requires calibration.
I have a 2017 Odyssey — does it need calibration?
It depends. Honda Sensing® was available on select 2017 Odyssey trims but was not standard across all models that year. We always verify by VIN before ordering glass on a 2017 Odyssey.
Is the Odyssey windshield harder to replace?
The Odyssey has one of the largest windshields in Honda's lineup. The wide, tall minivan glass requires extra care during installation. Our team is experienced with the Odyssey's specific glass profile and camera bracket mounting area.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and ADAS calibration. For 2018+ Odysseys where the total reaches $620–$1,300, most policyholders pay little or nothing out of pocket. We handle the full claim.
How long does it take?
60–90 min for glass only. 2.5–4 hours with Honda Sensing® calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 minutes using fast-cure urethane adhesive.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. We bring the shop to you so you never have to drive a cracked windshield anywhere.
Not sure what your Odyssey needs?Tell us your year and trim — we'll confirm everything, including CabinWatch vs. Sensing, in under a minute.

Honda Odyssey Windshield by Generation — What Your Year Needs

Your generation determines your glass type, whether calibration is required, and your total cost. Select your generation below.

2011–2017 · 5th Gen
2018–2025 · 6th Gen
ℹ️
5th Gen (2011–2017): Most 5th gen Odysseys have no ADAS and require no calibration — glass-only replacement. Honda introduced Lane Watch on the passenger mirror starting in 2013: this is a side-mirror-mounted blind-spot camera and has nothing to do with the windshield. The 2017 model year is a transition year — Honda Sensing® was available on select trims. Always verify 2017 by VIN before ordering.
FeatureDetails
Honda Sensing® / ADASNot Standard — No ADAS on 2011–2016; select 2017 trims only. Always verify 2017 by VIN.
Lane Watch Camera (2013–2017)Passenger-side mirror mounted — shows blind spot when signaling right. Completely unrelated to windshield replacement. No calibration needed.
Glass TypeStandard laminated minivan windshield. Acoustic glass on EX-L and Touring trims — match when replacing.
Acoustic GlassEX-L and Touring trims — replacing with non-acoustic glass noticeably increases road noise in the cabin
Rain-Sensing WipersAvailable on EX-L and Touring — sensor patch visible on glass interior
2017 Special NoteHonda Sensing® was available on select trims as a transition year feature. Do not assume — verify by VIN before any order is placed.
Typical Cost$260 – $500 total (glass + labor + moldings) · No calibration for most trims
Installation Time60–90 minutes · Drive-away in 60 min
Our Glass RecommendationPilkington or Fuyao (Ohio plant) — both correctly label acoustic specs for Odyssey minivan glass
Body StyleMinivan only — large windshield with wide profile. Part numbers differ by trim.
🔍
Lane Watch clarification: Customers who call asking if "the camera in the mirror" needs calibration after a windshield replacement can be reassured immediately — Lane Watch (2013–2017) is in the passenger side mirror and is entirely unaffected by anything we do to the windshield. No calibration, no reconfiguration, no follow-up needed.
⚠️
6th Gen (2018–2025): Honda Sensing® is standard on ALL trims — LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite. Every 6th gen Odyssey windshield replacement requires ADAS calibration. The Odyssey's minivan windshield is one of the largest in Honda's lineup, with a wide camera mounting area requiring precise bracket alignment and torquing. Calibration is static method only.
⚠️
CabinWatch vs. Honda Sensing® — the most common Odyssey confusion we hear: The 6th gen Odyssey has two cameras that customers frequently mix up. CabinWatch is the interior ceiling-mounted camera located on the overhead console between the front seats — it lets the driver monitor rear-seat passengers on a screen. It is mounted inside the cabin and has absolutely nothing to do with the windshield. Honda Sensing® is the forward-facing camera mounted in a bracket directly behind the rearview mirror, on the inside of the windshield. This is the camera that requires calibration after windshield replacement. If a customer calls asking whether "the camera in the roof" or "the overhead camera" needs calibration — the answer is no. CabinWatch is unaffected. Only the Honda Sensing® windshield camera requires calibration.
FeatureDetails
Honda Sensing® / ADASStandard on ALL trims — every 2018–2025 Odyssey requires windshield camera calibration
CabinWatch CameraInterior ceiling-mounted — monitors rear passengers. Completely unrelated to windshield. No calibration required. See note above.
Calibration Required?Yes — Honda Sensing® camera bracket mounts behind windshield and must be recalibrated after glass removal
Calibration TypeStatic only — vehicle stationary, manufacturer-spec targets placed at precise distances. 1–2 hours on site.
Safety Features AffectedCollision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning
Acoustic GlassStandard on EX and above — replacement must match. LX uses standard laminated glass.
Rain-Sensing WipersEX and above — sensor patch on glass interior
Magic Slide SeatsInterior feature only — second-row seats slide side-to-side. No relationship to windshield replacement or ADAS calibration.
Cost — With ADAS Calibration$620 – $1,300 total · Insurance often covers this fully
Installation Time60–90 min glass only · 2.5–4 hours with static calibration
Body StyleMinivan — extra-large windshield. Camera bracket mounting area is wider than on Honda sedans or crossovers.
After every 6th gen calibration: We provide a printed ADAS calibration completion report. If any Honda Sensing® warning lights return after our service, we redo the calibration at no charge — no questions asked.
🔍
Quick check: Look for a small black camera bracket near the top center of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror. If it's there, you have Honda Sensing® and calibration is required. The CabinWatch camera — if your Odyssey has it — is on the interior ceiling between the front seats and does not affect your windshield job. Share your VIN when you call and we'll confirm everything immediately.

Glass Options Explained

Honda Odyssey Windshield Glass — OEM, OEE & Aftermarket

The Odyssey's large minivan windshield makes glass quality especially critical on 6th gen models with Honda Sensing®.

💡
Odyssey-specific note: The 6th gen Odyssey has one of the largest windshields in Honda's lineup. The extra-wide camera mounting area means that generic glass is more likely to cause ADAS calibration failure on an Odyssey than on a smaller Honda model — optical inconsistency near the camera zone is harder to avoid at this glass size. We only use verified ADAS-compatible glass on all 2018+ Odyssey jobs.

Our Honest Take on Odyssey Calibration

Honda's manufacturer documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Sensing-equipped Odyssey. That is the official position and we always make customers aware of it before the job begins.

In practice, we do perform non-calibrated replacements when customers understand the tradeoff. On 6th gen Odysseys the camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position, and in most cases the system continues to function normally. We have seen this consistently across hundreds of Honda jobs.

Our recommendation for Odyssey owners: If you are using insurance, always calibrate — the cost is covered and there is no reason to skip it. If you are paying out of pocket and your Honda Sensing® was working perfectly before, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice. If any warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we will calibrate at cost.

Repair or Replace?

Honda Odyssey Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

Full replacement is almost always the better call for an Odyssey. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we lean toward replacement even then.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for 6th gen ADAS Odysseys (2018+)

From $260 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But...

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail or crack can return
  • Not recommended on any ADAS Odyssey (2018+)

$95–$150 · We'll tell you if replacement makes more sense

Why Chip Repair Is Riskier on the 2018+ Odyssey

On a 2018+ Odyssey with Honda Sensing®, the forward camera reads through the windshield glass. The Odyssey's extra-large glass surface means that even a chip that appears far from the camera field of view can be closer to the optical zone than it looks. Resin injection changes the optical properties of the glass at the repair site, and Honda Sensing® can produce intermittent warnings or fail calibration as a result.

If the chip is within 10 inches of the camera mount area (top center of the glass, behind the mirror), we will almost always recommend replacement over repair on a 6th gen ADAS Odyssey. The math is simple: a repair costs $95–$150 with no warranty. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs nothing out of pocket. We will give you an honest assessment on every call.

FAQ

Honda Odyssey Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Odyssey owners across all years, trims, and generations — including the CabinWatch calibration question we hear constantly.

How much does a Honda Odyssey windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
5th gen Odysseys (2011–2017, most trims) without ADAS cost $260–$500 all-in. Any 2018 or newer Odyssey with Honda Sensing® runs $620–$1,300 including mandatory static calibration. Call (626) 689-7975 with your year and trim for an exact price in under a minute.
Does CabinWatch need to be calibrated after windshield replacement?
No — and this is the question we get most often from Odyssey owners. CabinWatch is the overhead interior camera mounted on the ceiling console between the front seats that lets the driver monitor rear-seat passengers. It is entirely ceiling-mounted and has absolutely nothing to do with the windshield or windshield replacement. The camera that requires calibration after windshield replacement is the Honda Sensing® forward-facing camera, which sits in a bracket directly behind the rearview mirror, inside the windshield. If someone told you "the camera in the roof" needs calibration after a windshield job, they were thinking of CabinWatch — which does not.
Does my 2017 Honda Odyssey need ADAS calibration?
It depends entirely on your trim. Honda Sensing® was introduced on the Odyssey as a transition-year feature in 2017 but was not standard across all trims — some 2017 Odysseys have it, others do not. We always verify 2017 Odysseys by VIN before ordering glass. Call us with your VIN and we will confirm in seconds.
Does Lane Watch on my 5th gen Odyssey require calibration?
No. Lane Watch (available from 2013 on the 5th gen Odyssey) is a camera mounted in the passenger-side mirror that shows a blind-spot view when you signal right. It has nothing to do with the windshield. Windshield replacement on any 5th gen Odyssey — even one with Lane Watch — does not require any calibration. Lane Watch will continue working exactly as before.
Is the Honda Odyssey windshield harder to replace than a sedan windshield?
The Odyssey's minivan windshield is significantly larger than Honda sedan glass — it has a wider, taller profile and a broader camera mounting area on 6th gen models. The job takes slightly longer and requires experienced handling of the larger glass panel, but it is not a special-order or unusual procedure for our team. We install Odyssey windshields regularly throughout Los Angeles.
Do Magic Slide seats affect my Odyssey's windshield replacement?
No. Magic Slide seats are a 6th gen Odyssey interior convenience feature that allows the second-row seats to slide side-to-side. They have no relationship to the windshield, the glass replacement process, or ADAS calibration. Your windshield job is completely unaffected by whether your Odyssey has Magic Slide seats.
Will my insurance cover Honda Odyssey windshield replacement in Los Angeles?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For a 2018+ Odyssey where the total reaches $620–$1,300, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing out of pocket. We handle the entire claim with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, and all major carriers — you focus on your day.
Can my Odyssey self-calibrate after windshield replacement?
No. Honda Odysseys with Honda Sensing® do not self-calibrate after windshield replacement. Any shop claiming otherwise is not following Honda's service documentation. Static calibration with manufacturer-grade targets is required every time the windshield is removed on a 6th gen Odyssey. We complete calibration on site before the vehicle is returned to you.
