Honda Ridgeline Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things to know before you call, regardless of your Ridgeline's year or generation.

How much does it cost?
$260–$480 for 1st gen Ridgelines (2006–2014) with no ADAS. $640–$1,300 for 2nd gen (2017–2025) with Honda Sensing®, including mandatory static calibration.
Does my Ridgeline need ADAS calibration?
Yes, if it's a 2nd gen (2017–2025). Honda Sensing® was standard on every trim at launch in 2017 — one of the first Honda vehicles to offer it across the board. First gen (2006–2014) needs no calibration.
Why is there no 2015 or 2016 Ridgeline?
Honda discontinued the 1st gen after 2014 for a complete redesign. The 2nd gen launched as a 2017 model. There are no 2015 or 2016 Ridgelines — that gap is not a mistake.
Is the Ridgeline really a unibody truck?
Yes — unlike body-on-frame trucks (F-150, Tacoma, Tundra), the Ridgeline uses unibody construction. The windshield urethane bond contributes to cabin rigidity and roof crush resistance, making bond quality structurally important.
Do Black Edition and TrailSport use different glass?
No — Black Edition and TrailSport share the same windshield part number as all other 2nd gen trims. The differences are cosmetic and mechanical, not glass-related.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and ADAS calibration. We handle the full claim. Most 2nd gen Ridgeline owners with comprehensive coverage pay nothing out of pocket.
How long does it take?
60–90 min glass-only. 2.5–4 hours with ADAS calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 minutes using fast-cure urethane.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. No hauling your truck across town with a cracked windshield.

Honda Ridgeline Windshield by Generation — What Your Year Needs

Your generation determines your glass type, whether calibration is required, and your total cost. Note: there is no 2015 or 2016 Ridgeline. Select your generation below.

1st Gen · 2006–2014
2nd Gen · 2017–2025
ℹ️
1st Gen (2006–2014): No ADAS, no forward camera. The original Ridgeline pioneered the unibody pickup truck concept in the mainstream market — no body-on-frame, no separate ladder frame. Standard laminated windshield. The most straightforward Ridgeline replacement: glass only, no calibration. Even so, we use proper urethane spec on every job — the unibody structure makes bond integrity more important than on conventional trucks.
FeatureDetails
Honda Sensing® / ADASNot Available — No forward camera on any 2006–2014 Ridgeline
Calibration Required? No — glass replacement only, no recalibration of any system
Glass TypeStandard laminated windshield — no acoustic interlayer on this generation
Rain-Sensing WipersNot available on 1st gen Ridgeline
Construction TypeUnibody — the windshield urethane bond contributes to structural rigidity
Urethane SpecHigh-Modulus Fast-Cure required — structurally significant bond on unibody platform
Typical Cost$260 – $480 total (glass + labor + moldings)
Installation Time60–90 minutes · Drive-away in 60 min
Our Glass RecommendationQuality aftermarket (Pilkington or Fuyao) — OEM not required on non-ADAS 1st gen
Body StyleCrew cab pickup only — single body style across all 1st gen trims
⚠️
1st gen urethane note: Even though the 1st gen Ridgeline needs no ADAS calibration, we always use high-modulus urethane on every Ridgeline job. The unibody construction means the windshield-to-body bond is part of the vehicle's structural system — not just a seal. Standard low-modulus urethane is not appropriate for this platform.
⚠️
2nd Gen (2017–2025): Honda Sensing® was standard on ALL trims at the 2017 launch — making the Ridgeline one of the first Honda vehicles where it was fully standard from day one. Acoustic glass standard. Truck-specific windshield with a taller rake angle than Honda car and SUV windshields. Rain-sensing wipers on Sport and above. Black Edition and TrailSport share the same windshield as other 2nd gen trims. Every windshield replacement on this generation requires calibration.
FeatureDetails
Honda Sensing® / ADASStandard on ALL trims — every 2017–2025 Ridgeline has a camera-equipped windshield
Calibration Required?Yes — camera bracket mounts behind windshield and must be recalibrated after glass removal
Calibration TypeStatic only — vehicle stationary, manufacturer-spec targets placed at precise distances. 1–2 hours
Safety Features AffectedCollision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning
Acoustic GlassYes — standard on all 2nd gen Ridgelines. Replacement must match acoustic spec
Rain-Sensing WipersSport, RTL, RTL-E, Black Edition, TrailSport — visible sensor patch on glass interior
Glass ProfileTruck-specific — taller rake angle than Honda Pilot, CR-V, or Passport. Not interchangeable
Black Edition / TrailSportSame windshield part number as all other 2nd gen trims — trim differences are cosmetic only
Construction TypeUnibody — high-modulus urethane required; bond is structurally load-bearing
Cost — With ADAS Calibration$640 – $1,300 total · Insurance typically covers this fully
Installation Time60–90 min glass only · 2.5–4 hours with calibration
🏗️
Critical: Ridgeline unibody structural bond. Unlike body-on-frame trucks (Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Tundra, Ram 1500 Classic), the Ridgeline's unibody construction means the windshield urethane bond to the body is structurally load-bearing — it contributes to cabin rigidity and roof crush resistance. Using non-OEE glass with inferior urethane compatibility on a Ridgeline is particularly inadvisable. A weak or improperly cured bond on a Ridgeline carries more structural risk than on a conventional pickup. We always use proper high-modulus fast-cure urethane and OEE-grade glass on every Ridgeline job — no exceptions.
🔍
Quick check: Look for a small black camera bracket near the top center of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror. If it's there, you have Honda Sensing® and calibration is required. If your Ridgeline is a 2017 or newer model, it will always have this camera — it was standard on every trim from day one. Share your VIN when you call and we'll confirm the exact part, glass spec, and total price immediately.

Glass Options Explained

Honda Ridgeline Windshield Glass — OEM, OEE & Aftermarket

The right glass matters on every vehicle — but on the Ridgeline's unibody platform, urethane compatibility and glass quality carry additional structural weight.

💡
Ridgeline-specific note: Because the Ridgeline uses unibody construction, the windshield urethane bond is part of the vehicle's structural system. Generic or discount glass often uses lower-grade urethane primers and surface coatings that compromise bond adhesion — an issue with more serious consequences on the Ridgeline than on a body-on-frame truck where the body handles its own structural loads independently.

Our Honest Take on Ridgeline Calibration

Honda's manufacturer documentation recommends calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Sensing-equipped Ridgeline. That's the official position — and we always make customers aware of it.

In practice, we do perform non-calibrated replacements on request. In the majority of cases the system continues to operate normally — the camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. We've seen this pattern consistently across many Ridgeline jobs.

Our recommendation: If you're using insurance, calibrate — it's covered and there's no reason not to. If you're paying out of pocket and your Sensing was working perfectly before, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice. If any warning lights appear after the job, come back and we'll calibrate at cost.

When we calibrate, we always provide a printed completion report. If any warning lights return after our service, we redo the calibration at no charge — no questions asked.

Repair or Replace?

Honda Ridgeline Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

Full replacement is almost always the better call. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we lean toward replacement even then, especially on the Ridgeline.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for 2nd gen Ridgelines with Honda Sensing®
  • Proper urethane bond restores full structural integrity

From $260 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But...

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail or crack can return
  • Not recommended on any 2nd gen Ridgeline (2017+)
  • Resin injection does not restore structural bond

$95–$150 · We'll always tell you if replacement makes more sense

Why Chip Repair Is Riskier on the 2017+ Ridgeline

On a 2nd gen Ridgeline with Honda Sensing®, the forward camera reads through the windshield glass. Even a chip appearing far from the camera field of view can cause calibration issues after resin injection — resin changes the optical properties of the glass in that area, and Honda Sensing® can fail calibration or generate intermittent warnings afterward.

If the chip is within 8 inches of the camera mount area (top center of the glass), we will almost always recommend replacement over repair on an ADAS Ridgeline. With insurance, a full replacement with calibration typically costs nothing out of pocket. We'll give you an honest assessment either way.

FAQ

Honda Ridgeline Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Honda Ridgeline owners across both generations.

How much does a Honda Ridgeline windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
First gen Ridgelines (2006–2014) without ADAS cost $260–$480 all-in. Second gen Ridgelines (2017–2025) with Honda Sensing® run $640–$1,300 including mandatory static calibration. Call (626) 689-7975 with your year and trim for an exact price in under a minute.
Does my Honda Ridgeline need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Yes, if your Ridgeline is a 2nd gen (2017–2025). Honda Sensing® was standard on every 2nd gen trim at launch — making the Ridgeline one of the earliest Honda vehicles to offer it across the board with no exceptions. If your Ridgeline was built between 2006 and 2014 (1st gen), there is no forward camera and no calibration is needed.
Why was there no 2015 or 2016 Honda Ridgeline?
Honda ended production of the 1st gen Ridgeline after the 2014 model year in order to completely redesign the truck. The 2nd gen debuted as a 2017 model year vehicle, leaving a two-year production gap. There are no 2015 or 2016 Ridgelines — not a rarity, simply never built. If you're looking at one for sale, verify the VIN carefully.
Why does the Ridgeline's unibody structure make windshield bond integrity especially important?
Traditional pickup trucks like the Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, and Toyota Tundra use body-on-frame construction — the body sits on top of a separate ladder frame that handles structural loads. The Ridgeline uses unibody construction, where the cab, bed, and frame are integrated into a single structure. This means the windshield urethane bond contributes directly to cabin rigidity and roof crush resistance. A proper bond with high-modulus urethane is structurally significant in a way it simply isn't on body-on-frame trucks. Using inferior urethane or non-OEE glass with poor urethane primer compatibility on a Ridgeline carries more risk. We always use the correct spec.
Do the Black Edition and TrailSport Ridgeline trims require different glass?
No. The Black Edition and TrailSport share the exact same windshield part number as all other 2nd gen Ridgeline trims. The differences between trims — dark chrome badging, all-terrain tires on TrailSport, black exterior accents on Black Edition — are cosmetic and mechanical. The windshield profile and glass spec are identical across all 2017–2025 trims.
Can my Ridgeline self-calibrate after windshield replacement?
No. Honda Ridgelines with Honda Sensing® do not self-calibrate after windshield replacement. Any shop claiming otherwise is not following Honda's service requirements. Static calibration with manufacturer-grade equipment is required every time the windshield is removed on a 2nd gen Sensing-equipped Ridgeline.
Will my insurance cover Honda Ridgeline windshield replacement in Los Angeles?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For a 2nd gen Ridgeline where the total reaches $640–$1,300, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing out of pocket. We handle the entire claim with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, and all major carriers.
Can I drive with a cracked Ridgeline windshield in California?
A crack in the driver's primary line of sight is illegal and unsafe in California. Temperature swings in the LA area cause cracks to spread quickly — a small chip can grow into a full replacement job within days. On a 2nd gen Ridgeline, a spreading crack near the camera mount area can also trigger Honda Sensing® warning lights. Call us for a same-day mobile assessment anywhere in Los Angeles.
