Jeep Active Safety is Jeep's suite of camera-based driver-assist systems. When the windshield is replaced, the camera mounted behind it may shift — and calibration ensures every safety feature works correctly.

What Jeep Active Safety Does
Jeep Active Safety uses a windshield-mounted camera behind the rearview mirror. It powers Forward Collision Warning Plus with automatic emergency braking, Active Lane Management (lane departure warning and lane keep assist), and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop. Blind Spot Monitoring uses radar sensors in the rear bumper — not the camera — so it is not affected by windshield replacement.

What Happens When We Replace the Glass
The camera bracket is removed with the old windshield and re-mounted to the new one. Even a fraction of a degree of shift in camera angle throws off the system's reference points. Calibration re-establishes those points using manufacturer-spec targets — our method is static only, the most precise approach available.

Jeep-Specific Camera Considerations
Jeep's Active Safety camera on the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler is particularly sensitive to optical distortion in the windshield glass. The Wrangler and Gladiator add unique complexity due to their fold-down windshield mechanism — the hinge assembly must be inspected during every replacement. We always use Pilkington, Fuyao, AGC, or Vitro/PGW — the same brands Jeep uses on the assembly line.
