Lincoln's documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on a Co-Pilot360-equipped vehicle — which is every Nautilus. That's the official position and we always inform customers of it.
In practice, most non-calibrated replacements result in a normally functioning system. The camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. We've seen this consistently across luxury SUV jobs.
Our recommendation: If you're using insurance, calibrate — cost is covered and there's no reason not to. If you're paying out of pocket, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice if the system was working perfectly before. If warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.
