Toyota Corolla Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things to know before you call, regardless of your Corolla's year or trim.

How much does it cost?
$220–$400 for 2009–2016 Corollas without ADAS. $560–$1,200 for 2017–2025 models with Toyota Safety Sense™, including mandatory calibration.
Does my Corolla need ADAS calibration?
Yes, if your Corolla has Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS). TSS 2.0 is standard on ALL 12th gen (2020–2025) trims. Some 2017–2019 trims (LE Eco, XLE, XSE) have TSS-C. Pre-2017 Corollas have no forward camera.
Sedan or hatchback — does it matter?
Yes. Starting in 2020, the Corolla sedan and Corolla Hatchback have physically different windshields. The GR Corolla uses hatchback glass. Always confirm body style by VIN to get the correct part.
Is a Corolla Cross the same as a Corolla?
No — the Corolla Cross is a separate vehicle with its own windshield part number. It is not interchangeable with the Corolla sedan or hatchback. We always verify by VIN.
What calibration type does the Corolla use?
Static calibration only. The vehicle remains stationary while we use manufacturer-spec targets placed at precise distances. Takes 1–2 hours after glass installation.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and calibration. We handle the full claim. Most 2020+ Corolla owners with comprehensive coverage pay nothing out of pocket.
How long does it take?
60–90 min glass-only. 2.5–4 hours with ADAS calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 min with fast-cure urethane adhesive.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. No driving a cracked windshield across town.

Toyota Corolla Windshield by Generation — What Your Year Needs

Your year determines your glass type, whether calibration is required, and your total cost. Select your generation below.

⚠️
Important — Corolla sedan vs. hatchback vs. Cross: Starting with the 12th generation (2020+), the Corolla sedan and Corolla Hatchback have physically different windshields due to different rooflines. The GR Corolla also uses the hatchback glass profile. The Corolla Cross is a completely separate vehicle with its own glass. Shops that look up glass by "Corolla" without specifying body style risk ordering the wrong part. We always confirm by VIN before ordering.

⚠️
11th Gen (2014–2019): Toyota introduced Toyota Safety Sense™ C (TSS-C) starting in 2017 on select trims — LE Eco, XLE, and XSE. TSS-C was NOT standard on the base L or LE trims until later. Pre-2017 models in this generation have no forward camera and need no calibration. Sedan only in US market.

⚠️
12th Gen (2020–2025): Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 is standard on ALL trims — L, LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and Hatchback variants including GR Corolla. Available as both sedan AND hatchback — these have different windshield profiles. Acoustic glass on SE and above. Every windshield replacement requires calibration.

Cost — With ADAS Calibration$560 – $1,200 total · Insurance often covers this fully
Installation Time60–90 min glass only · 2.5–4 hours with calibration
Our Glass RecommendationFuyao or Pilkington OEE for best ADAS calibration compatibility; OEM Toyota for lease returns
⚠️
12th gen known issue — sedan vs. hatchback glass: The Corolla sedan and Corolla Hatchback have different rooflines and windshield profiles despite sharing a platform. The GR Corolla also uses the hatchback glass. Many shops look up "Corolla" generically and order the wrong windshield. We always decode body style from your VIN before placing any glass order.
🔍
Quick check: Look for a small black camera bracket near the top center of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror. If it's there, you have Toyota Safety Sense™ and calibration is required. Share your VIN when you call and we'll confirm the exact part, glass spec, and total price immediately.

Glass Options Explained

Toyota Corolla Windshield Glass — OEM, OEE & Aftermarket

The right glass depends on your year, trim, and body style. Especially important on TSS-equipped 2017+ Corollas.

💡
Corolla-specific note: On 2020+ Corollas with TSS 2.0, the forward camera reads through the windshield glass. Generic glass with inconsistent thickness near the camera mount area can cause calibration failure. We only use ADAS-compatible glass from approved suppliers on any TSS-equipped Corolla.

Our Honest Take on Corolla Calibration

Toyota's manufacturer documentation recommends calibration any time the windshield is removed on a TSS-equipped Corolla. That's the official position — and we always make customers aware of it.

In practice, we do perform non-calibrated replacements. In the vast majority of cases the system continues to function normally — the camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position. We've seen this consistently across hundreds of Corolla jobs.

Our recommendation: If you're using insurance, calibrate — the cost is covered and there's no reason not to. If you're paying out of pocket and your TSS was working perfectly before, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice. If warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we'll calibrate at cost.

When we calibrate, we always provide a printed completion report. If any warning lights return after our service, we redo the calibration at no charge — no questions asked.

Repair or Replace?

Toyota Corolla Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

Full replacement is almost always the better call. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we lean toward replacement even then.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for TSS-equipped Corollas (2017+)

From $220 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But...

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail or crack can return
  • Not recommended on any TSS Corolla (2017+)

$95–$150 · We'll always tell you if replacement makes more sense

Why Chip Repair Is Riskier on the 2020+ Corolla

On a 2020+ Corolla with TSS 2.0, the forward camera reads through the windshield glass. Even a chip that appears far from the camera field of view can cause calibration issues after resin injection — resin changes the optical properties of the glass in that zone, and TSS can fail calibration or generate intermittent warnings as a result.

If the chip is within 8 inches of the camera mount area (top center of the glass), we will almost always recommend replacement over repair on a TSS Corolla. The math is straightforward: a repair costs $95–$150 with no warranty. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs nothing. We'll give you an honest assessment either way.

FAQ

Toyota Corolla Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Toyota Corolla owners across all years and trims.

How much does a Toyota Corolla windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
Pre-2017 Corollas without ADAS: $220–$400 all-in. Any 2017+ Corolla with Toyota Safety Sense™ runs $560–$1,200 including mandatory calibration. Call (626) 689-7975 with your year and trim for an exact price in under a minute.
Does my Toyota Corolla need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Yes, if your Corolla has Toyota Safety Sense™. TSS 2.0 is standard on ALL 12th gen (2020–2025) Corolla trims. Some 2017–2019 trims (LE Eco, XLE, XSE) have TSS-C. Pre-2017 Corollas have no forward camera and need no calibration.
Is the Corolla Hatchback windshield the same as the Corolla sedan?
No. Starting with the 12th generation (2020+), the Corolla sedan and Corolla Hatchback have physically different windshields due to different rooflines. The GR Corolla also uses the hatchback glass profile. Shops that look up "Corolla" without specifying body style risk ordering the wrong part. We always confirm by VIN before ordering.
Is the Corolla Cross the same vehicle as the Corolla for glass purposes?
No. The Corolla Cross is a completely separate vehicle with its own windshield part number. It shares the Corolla name but has a different body, roofline, and glass profile. We always verify by VIN to ensure we order the correct glass for your specific vehicle.
What type of calibration does the Corolla use — static or dynamic?
The Toyota Corolla uses static calibration only. The vehicle remains stationary while our technicians place manufacturer-spec targets at precise distances in front of the camera. This takes 1–2 hours and is performed on-site after the glass installation.
Can my Corolla self-calibrate after windshield replacement?
No. Toyota Corollas with Toyota Safety Sense™ do not self-calibrate after windshield replacement. Any shop claiming otherwise is not following Toyota's service requirements. Static calibration with manufacturer-grade equipment is required every time the windshield is removed on a TSS-equipped Corolla.
Will my insurance cover Toyota Corolla windshield replacement in Los Angeles?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For a 2020+ Corolla where the total reaches $560–$1,200, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing out of pocket. We handle the entire claim with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, and all major carriers.
Can I drive with a cracked windshield in California?
A crack in the driver's primary line of sight is illegal and unsafe in California. Temperature swings in LA cause cracks to spread fast — a small chip can become a full replacement job within days on a 2020+ Corolla. Call us for a same-day mobile assessment anywhere in Los Angeles.
