Toyota Sienna Windshield Replacement — Common Questions Answered

The most important things Sienna owners need to know before they call — regardless of year or trim.

How much does it cost?
$260–$480 for 3rd gen Siennas (2011–2017) without ADAS. $640–$1,350 for TSS-equipped models (2018+ 3rd gen, all 2021–2025 4th gen), including mandatory calibration.
Does my Sienna need ADAS calibration?
All 2021–2025 Siennas have TSS 2.0 standard — calibration is required. For 2018–2020, TSS-P is standard on all trims. Pre-2018 Siennas need no calibration.
Is the 2021+ hybrid windshield different?
No. The 2021+ Sienna is hybrid-only — there is no gas option. The windshield is identical regardless of powertrain. There is no "hybrid glass" surcharge or special part. Same glass, same price.
Does the 4th gen windshield crack more easily?
The 4th gen Sienna has a notably large windshield that is more susceptible to thermal stress cracking in LA heat. The combination of large glass area, acoustic lamination, and direct sun means small chips can spread quickly. Address damage promptly.
Does AWD affect the windshield job?
No. AWD is a drivetrain feature on the 4th gen Sienna and has no relationship to the windshield, glass replacement, or ADAS calibration. FWD and AWD Siennas use the same windshield.
Will insurance cover it?
Yes — comprehensive coverage covers glass and ADAS calibration. For 2018+ Siennas where the total reaches $640–$1,350, most policyholders pay little or nothing out of pocket. We handle the full claim.
How long does it take?
60–90 min for glass only. 2.5–4 hours with TSS calibration. Drive-away safe in 60 minutes using fast-cure urethane adhesive.
Can you come to my home or office?
Yes — free mobile service throughout Los Angeles. We bring the shop to you so you never have to drive a cracked windshield anywhere.

Toyota Sienna Windshield by Generation — What Your Year Needs

Your generation determines your glass type, whether calibration is required, and your total cost. Select your generation below.

2011–2020 · 3rd Gen
2021–2025 · 4th Gen
ℹ️
3rd Gen (2011–2020): Traditional gas-powered minivan. No ADAS for 2011–2017 models — glass-only replacement with no calibration. Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P) became standard on all trims starting with the 2018 model year. TSS-P includes Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Large windshield typical of minivans.
FeatureDetails
TSS / ADAS (2011–2017)Not Available — No ADAS on any 2011–2017 Sienna. No calibration required.
TSS / ADAS (2018–2020)TSS-P Standard All Trims — Calibration required after windshield replacement.
Glass TypeStandard laminated minivan windshield. Large, wide profile typical of full-size minivans.
Acoustic GlassAvailable on XLE, Limited, and higher trims — match when replacing to maintain cabin noise levels
Rain-Sensing WipersAvailable on Limited and higher trims — sensor patch visible on glass interior
Typical Cost (2011–2017)$260 – $480 total (glass + labor + moldings) · No calibration required
Typical Cost (2018–2020)$640 – $1,350 total · Includes TSS-P static calibration
Installation Time60–90 minutes glass only · 2.5–4 hours with TSS calibration (2018–2020)
Our Glass RecommendationPilkington or Fuyao (Ohio plant) — both correctly label acoustic specs for Sienna minivan glass
Body StyleMinivan only — large windshield with wide profile. Part numbers differ by trim and ADAS status.
🔍
2018–2020 owners: Even though your Sienna is still the 3rd generation body style, TSS-P is standard on all trims starting 2018. This means your windshield replacement requires ADAS calibration — the same static calibration procedure as the newer 4th gen models. Do not assume your 3rd gen Sienna is non-ADAS just because it looks like a 2017.
⚠️
4th Gen (2021–2025): Complete redesign. HYBRID-ONLY — no gas-powered option exists from 2021 onward. Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 is standard on ALL trims — LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Platinum, and Woodland. Every 4th gen Sienna windshield replacement requires ADAS calibration. AWD available. Acoustic glass standard. Calibration is static method only.
⚠️
Hybrid windshield myth — the most common 4th gen Sienna question we hear: The 2021+ Sienna is hybrid-only — there is no gas-powered option available. Some customers worry that "hybrid glass" is different or more expensive. It is not. The windshield is identical regardless of powertrain. There is no such thing as special hybrid windshield glass. The glass part number, the camera bracket, the calibration procedure, and the total cost are all exactly the same as they would be on a hypothetical gas-only version. If another shop quoted you a "hybrid surcharge" for Sienna glass, that is not a real charge. Additionally, the 4th gen Sienna has a notably large windshield that is more susceptible to thermal stress cracking in Los Angeles heat. The combination of the large glass surface area, acoustic lamination, and prolonged sun exposure means that even a small chip can spread rapidly into a full crack. We strongly recommend addressing any damage on a 4th gen Sienna as soon as possible — do not wait.

🔍
Quick check: Look for a small black camera bracket near the top center of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror. If it's there, you have Toyota Safety Sense™ and calibration is required. For 2011–2017 models, there is no camera — glass-only replacement. Share your VIN when you call and we'll confirm everything immediately.

Glass Options Explained

Toyota Sienna Windshield Glass — OEM, OEE & Aftermarket

The Sienna's large minivan windshield makes glass quality especially critical on TSS-equipped models.

💡
Sienna-specific note: The 4th gen Sienna has one of the largest windshields on the road. The extra-wide camera mounting area means that generic glass is more likely to cause ADAS calibration failure on a Sienna than on a smaller Toyota model — optical inconsistency near the camera zone is harder to avoid at this glass size. We only use verified ADAS-compatible glass on all TSS-equipped Sienna jobs.

Our Honest Take on Sienna Calibration

Toyota's manufacturer documentation requires calibration any time the windshield is removed on a TSS-equipped Sienna. That is the official position and we always make customers aware of it before the job begins.

In practice, we do perform non-calibrated replacements when customers understand the tradeoff. On TSS-equipped Siennas the camera re-mounts to the same bracket in the same position, and in most cases the system continues to function normally. We have seen this consistently across hundreds of Toyota jobs.

Our recommendation for Sienna owners: If you are using insurance, always calibrate — the cost is covered and there is no reason to skip it. If you are paying out of pocket and your Toyota Safety Sense™ was working perfectly before, a non-calibrated replacement is a reasonable choice. If any warning lights appear after the job, bring it back and we will calibrate at cost.

Repair or Replace?

Toyota Sienna Windshield Repair vs. Replacement — Which Do You Need?

Full replacement is almost always the better call for a Sienna. Here's when repair is technically possible — and why we lean toward replacement even then.

✓ Full Replacement — Always Our Recommendation

  • New glass, clean seal, zero compromise
  • Backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty
  • New moldings and clips included every time
  • Required for any crack over 6 inches
  • Required for damage in driver's line of sight
  • The only safe option for TSS-equipped Siennas (2018+)

From $260 · Same-day mobile available throughout LA

△ Repair — Technically Possible, But...

  • Chip must be smaller than a quarter
  • Not in driver's direct line of sight
  • Not within 3 inches of windshield edge
  • No spreading cracks, single impact only
  • No warranty — resin can fail or crack can return
  • Not recommended on any TSS Sienna (2018+)

$95–$150 · We'll tell you if replacement makes more sense

Why Chip Repair Is Riskier on the 2018+ Sienna

On a 2018+ Sienna with Toyota Safety Sense™, the forward camera reads through the windshield glass. The Sienna's extra-large glass surface means that even a chip that appears far from the camera field of view can be closer to the optical zone than it looks. Resin injection changes the optical properties of the glass at the repair site, and TSS can produce intermittent warnings or fail calibration as a result.

If the chip is within 10 inches of the camera mount area (top center of the glass, behind the mirror), we will almost always recommend replacement over repair on a TSS-equipped Sienna. The math is simple: a repair costs $95–$150 with no warranty. A full replacement with calibration through insurance typically costs nothing out of pocket. We will give you an honest assessment on every call.

FAQ

Toyota Sienna Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common questions from Sienna owners across all years, trims, and generations — including the hybrid glass question we hear constantly.

How much does a Toyota Sienna windshield replacement cost in Los Angeles?
3rd gen Siennas (2011–2017) without TSS cost $260–$480 all-in. Any 2018 or newer Sienna with Toyota Safety Sense™ runs $640–$1,350 including mandatory static calibration. Call (626) 689-7975 with your year and trim for an exact price in under a minute.
Is the 2021+ Sienna hybrid windshield different or more expensive?
No — and this is the question we get most often from 4th gen Sienna owners. The 2021+ Sienna is hybrid-only; there is no gas-powered version. The windshield is identical regardless of powertrain. There is no "hybrid glass" and no hybrid surcharge. The glass part number, the camera bracket, the calibration procedure, and the total cost are all exactly the same. If another shop quoted you extra for "hybrid glass," that is not a legitimate charge.
Does my Toyota Sienna need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
If your Sienna is 2018 or newer, yes. TSS-P became standard on all 3rd gen trims starting 2018, and TSS 2.0 is standard on all 4th gen trims (2021–2025). Pre-2018 Siennas (2011–2017) have no ADAS and require no calibration. We always verify by VIN before ordering glass.
Does the 4th gen Sienna windshield crack more easily in the heat?
The 4th gen Sienna (2021–2025) has a notably large windshield that is more susceptible to thermal stress cracking — especially in Los Angeles summers. The combination of large glass surface area, acoustic lamination, and prolonged direct sun exposure creates conditions where even a small chip can spread into a full crack rapidly. We strongly recommend addressing any chip or crack on a 4th gen Sienna immediately rather than waiting.
Does my Sienna's AWD system affect windshield replacement?
No. AWD (Electronic On-Demand AWD, available on the 4th gen Sienna) is a drivetrain feature and has no relationship to the windshield, the glass replacement process, or ADAS calibration. FWD and AWD Siennas use the same windshield part number and the same calibration procedure.
Will my insurance cover Toyota Sienna windshield replacement in Los Angeles?
Yes — comprehensive auto insurance covers windshield replacement including ADAS calibration. For a 2018+ Sienna where the total reaches $640–$1,350, most policyholders with comprehensive coverage owe little or nothing out of pocket. We handle the entire claim with GEICO, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, and all major carriers — you focus on your day.
Can my Toyota Sienna self-calibrate after windshield replacement?
No. Toyota Siennas with Toyota Safety Sense™ do not self-calibrate after windshield replacement. Any shop claiming otherwise is not following Toyota's service documentation. Static calibration with manufacturer-grade targets is required every time the windshield is removed on a TSS-equipped Sienna. We complete calibration on site before the vehicle is returned to you.
Is the 2018–2020 Sienna treated differently than the 2021+ for windshield replacement?
Both require ADAS calibration since TSS is standard on all 2018+ Siennas. The main difference is the body style — the 3rd gen (2018–2020) and the completely redesigned 4th gen (2021–2025) use different windshield part numbers. The calibration procedure is the same static method for both. The 4th gen windshield is slightly larger and uses acoustic glass as standard on all trims.
