|---|---|---|---|
| Pilkington | Our First Choice | Yes | Excellent optical clarity on deep-curve panoramic glass; proven Autopilot calibration compatibility; superior interlayer consistency for overhead viewing |
| AGC | Our First Choice | Yes | Premium manufacturer with extensive Tesla-specific tooling; outstanding panoramic curve quality; trusted for complex windshield geometries |
| Fuyao / FYG (Ohio plant) | Our First Choice | Yes | Tesla OEM supplier; tightest quality control on large-format windshields; proven panoramic glass production for EV manufacturers |
| XYG / Benson | Not Used | Not Approved | We do not install XYG or Benson glass on the Model X under any circumstances. The panoramic windshield demands top-tier glass only — the risk of distortion, calibration failure, and stress cracking is too high. |
Every Tesla Model X has Autopilot as standard equipment. Here's exactly what it means for your windshield replacement.

Tesla's Autopilot system relies on forward-facing cameras mounted behind the panoramic windshield. After windshield replacement, these cameras must be recalibrated to ensure safe operation of all Autopilot features.
We perform a static pre-alignment of the camera module in-house, then initiate Tesla's driving calibration procedure. The vehicle must complete a supervised driving session for the system to fully calibrate.
Our recommendation: On the Model X, always calibrate. The total cost of this job is already $800–$1,800 — calibration is included in that range and is essential for the safe operation of Autopilot. If you're using insurance (which we strongly recommend), calibration is fully covered at no additional cost to you.
📋 Using Insurance? Start Your Claim →On the Model X, full replacement is almost always the answer. The panoramic glass makes repair far riskier than on a standard windshield.

The Model X panoramic windshield is under significantly more stress than a conventional windshield. The glass curves dramatically over the driver's head, creating tension across the entire surface. A chip repair that might hold on a flat windshield is far more likely to fail and spread on the Model X's deeply curved glass.
Additionally, the Autopilot camera field of view covers a large portion of this windshield. Even a small chip near the camera area can cause calibration issues after resin injection. Given that insurance covers the full replacement on most policies, repair is almost never the right call on a Model X. We'll give you an honest assessment either way.
